we all have our own methods & expressions of worship. be yourself. don't try to be somebody you're not. discover yourself as a worshiper.
to worship God in spirit and truth, you need to be yourself first, not copy other people.
it's good to place a new singer in a choir first, to learn about:
- motivation
- teamwork
- submission
- ambition
a good singer (in church/ministry) must have:
- heart attitude (most important)
- discipline
a flexible singer: able to learn to sing a new song quickly.
how to learn a new song quickly?
- draw (if you can't read music)
- take a tape player & listen & learn
warm up: taking your voice position from speaking to singing (the pressure on vocal chords are different). warm up everyday!
ways to warm up:
- in shower: steam, small space
- 20 mins before gig - slowly warm up
- sound check
- don't forget to warm down
warm up is to focus your body and mind and voice.
proper breathing technique: relax.
singing is about listening.
God has created you with a specific voice, whether it's high or low. but you need to explore, discover your potential. after you've discover it, be sure and thankful that is what God has given you, for a purpose.
choir: sounding good is not as important as energy, movement. leading people. impact.
God gives us 2 sets of teeth, but only one voice. so look after your voice.
