jeffrey rachmat - core leaders meeting. 17 oct 08

matthew 10:16 - I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.
this verse speaks about Jesus sending the disciples to the world, like sheep among wolves. how can we see sheep overcomes the wolves? the key: be as shrewd as snakes (speaks about MIND) and as innocent as doves (speaks about HEART).

new man. renewed in mind and spirit. your point of view has to be different, see what God sees.
be SMART. Romans 12. "renew your mind..."
you can't live above your knowledge.

what you call problem might not be a problem for someone else. why? because they have the knowledge.

ephesians 4:11 "... to equip..."
our duty is to equip ppl. how can I equip people? if you are an equiper, you don't find joy in numbers, but in seeing that your people are equipped (succeed in life). church is to equip, not just to lad them to heaven.

No one would listen to a looser/someone who fail. people will listen to someone who's successful.

psalm 1: 3 "... and whatever he does will be successful...". this verse is the part where everyone like to hear, but in order to get it they need to do what the verse 1 & 2 said. keys to be successful:

  1. relationship (this is a big key). it only takes one person to mess you, but also only one person to build you up. know how to build relationship, how to relate to ppl, who to hang out with and who to stay away from. if you don't know how to build a relationship, your success will only last for a short time. relationship helps you succeed. once you're successful, ppl will look for you.
  2. God's principals (be solid in it).
when we say Jesus (in Christianity), it means: first: Jesus the person. if we believe in Him, we go to heaven. He connects us to the Father, we receive salvation. Eternity is guaranteed. second: the principals of Jesus. what He taught us. principals never change, it's eternal. it doesn't know a person. doesn't matter if you are not a Christian, the principals will still work. Example of His principals: sowing and reaping. don't focus on the harvest too much. you can determine the harvest by what you sow. you will not reap what you don't sow. success comes when you know how to work the principals. your seed determine the fruit. whatever you want people do to you, do it for them first - that's a golden rule.
we serve the God of miracle, so don't be surprised f you get a miracle, be surprised if you don't get one.
another example of His principal: be faithful in small things, and you will be entrusted with bigger ones. the secret of your success lies on your daily agenda.
someone's experience might be true, but it's not necessary the truth, meaning: peter walked on water. yes, it's true, but it doesn't mean we can all walk on water. we are not created to walk on water. Jesus didn't ask the rest of the disciples to walk on water too. and at then end Jesus brought peter back to the boat. don't get confused between "God the magician" and "God the miracle maker". God is not a magician (who lies). A lot of ppl expect Him to be a magician, to do something that's instant.

1 John 5:4 - For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.

if you want to be a growing church: equip ppl & solve their problem (find solution). a lot of churches make mistakes by finding the problems in ppl, instead of finding the solutions to their problems.

Leaders have to keep growing, so their followers can grow too. Learn. Be discipline to learn.

Tongue has a big power. The more we speak, the more troubles we create.

The best way to predict your future is to invent it. Create your own future.

As an employee, these are things you need to pay attention to:

  1. tithing. it's God's principal. tithing is not doing God a favor, it's giving Him the opportunity to work in us. sowing & reaping. give back to God as soon as you can. tithing: opening heaven. your tithing determines how big the heaven will be open to you.
  2. offering. something extra after the tithing.
  3. ask yourself, "Am I doing a good job? Am I adding value to the company?"

security comes from knowing you already sow into your future.

as a leader, how do you know when to ask someone to step up?

  1. don't fear. fear is the wrong foundation. give faith in people.
  2. get used to seeing mistakes. everyone makes mistakes.
  3. don't give the position to someone who's not passionate about it. passion creates energy. if that person is not passionate about it, he won't have the energy to do it.
  4. don't give it to someone who doesn't have the the strength to do it. because passion creates energy, energy creates strength.

how do you stay relevant?
hangout with the younger ones. relevant is only a tool. a tool/bridge you build to reach someone. relevant: relate.

confidence comes from:

  • God. believe in Him
  • revelation from God
  • push from a friend. relationship
